What is the difference between Portrait and Lifestyle photography?
I am primarily a portrait and lifestyle photographer. Portrait photography is classically timeless. Having a beautiful family portrait with everyone smiling and looking at the camera is always a family favorite. It’s the classic portrait hung in most people’s houses.
As much as I love a classic portrait, a beautiful family photo where everyone is being engaged with each other instead of looking directly at the camera. This is more lifestyle photography. Lifestyle photography is a documentary-style approach to photography where there is little formal posing. While I will pose your family, I’ll also give you prompts to help guide your family and children in order to capture your family's connections, expressions, and emotions as they naturally are. I will ensure you children are relaxed and having fun. As your family relaxes and starts to have fun in front of the camera, natural connections and expressions come to light. It allows me, as your photographer, to capture the timelessness of your family and bring to life your own natural beauty.
